Snow sounds

Snow Sounds by David A. Johnson is a great story about...sound. No storytelling exists here, just onomatopetic words about a snowstorm. Even without plot the story is compelling and children will enjoy hearing the noises and making up their own ideas of what sounds you hear during a storm. I like the way the point size of the text changes in size depending upon how close to the protagonists' house the sound is. The drawings have a lovely, soft, pre-dawn feel to them. This, I think, would be an excellent "before bedtime" choice. -Rhiannon
