By Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto
A fellow Library Goddess selected this book for my emerging (any minute now, please!) reader, and we had a grand time reading it this evening before bedtime. The whimsical story line took silly turns and reminded us more than a bit of Where the Wild Things Are. The illustrations are loads of fun as well.
One note: an emerging reader might have difficulty with the print, which occasionally changes fonts as it undulates across the pages (perfectly appropriately for the story and illustrations).
All in all, a great find. Probably more of a "boy's" book than a "girl's" book, but anyone who likes pirates and dinosaurs will enjoy it.
